Target groups for the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and
Disability) are international students who are:
Seeking to pursue a career in providing individual support.
• Seeking to enter a new industry sector.
• Seeking a pathway to higher-level qualifications
Characteristics of the target group are as follows:
International students from various countries who are seeking to develop their
skills and knowledge in ageing support to further their career prospects or study
pathways.
Students will usually be new entrants. However, credit and/or RPL can be provided for those with existing skills and knowledge allowing such students to complete
the course in a shorter timeframe.
It is generally observed that an international student when they go back to their
home country will benefit a great deal when they attain required skills and
knowledge that are needed to complete this course.
Potential students typically are: –
• Typically, student in this qualification will be from no work or study
experience and are between 18 – 45.
• from varied cultural backgrounds.
• usually educated to at least year 12.
• has IELTS band score of 6 or equivalent in line with regulations.

CERTIFICATE III IN INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT (AGEING AND
DISABILITY)
CHC Community Services Training Package (Release 1)
This qualification reflects the role of individuals in the community, home or residential
care setting who work under supervision and delegation as a part of a multi-disciplinary
team, following an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who
may require support due to ageing, disability, or some other reason.
These individuals take responsibility for their own outputs within the scope of their job
role and delegation. Workers have a range of factual, technical, and procedural
knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices
required to provide person-centred support.
The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and
State/Territory legislation, Australian standards, and industry codes of practice.
To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of
work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.
Total number of units = 15
9 core units plus.
6 elective units
• at least 3 units from those units listed under Group A or B
• the remaining units from any of the Groups A, B or C below.
Any combination of electives that meets the rules above can be selected for the award of
the Certificate III in Individual Support.
Where appropriate, electives may be packaged to provide a qualification with a
specialisation as outlined below.
Packaging for each specialisation:
All Group A electives must be selected for award of the Certificate III in Individual Support
(Ageing).
All Group B electives must be selected for award of the Certificate III in Individual Support
(Disability).
All Group A and all Group B electives must be selected for award of the Certificate III in
Individual Support (Ageing and Disability).
All electives chosen must contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.

There are no formal prerequisites required for entry in the Certificate III Early Childhood Education and Care. However, students entering this course at The Performance College must meet the following entry requirements:
All learners will undertake an initial skills assessment to determine suitability for the course and student needs. The review aims to identify their training needs through questions on previous education or training, the relevance of the course and relevant experience. Determination of course suitability and additional support (if any) will be made by a qualified assessor
All students will be required to complete an LLN assessment prior to the onset of the course. The Performance College uses the LLN robot platform for the assessment
All reports, training supplements are generated by the LLN Robot system after comparing the learner’s ACSF spiky profile to the profile of this course
For students to work on assessments, tasks and self-study all learners are expected to have access to a laptop or computer with Windows operating system and office application like Microsoft word at their own cost
Where needed, The Performance College will provide access to computers or laptops, through an MoU setup with an external IT company
a. Satisfactory completion of studies in applicant’s home country equivalent to an
Australian Year 12 qualification
OR
b. Successful completion of a qualification from an Institute where mode of
instructions was English and where the course duration was no less than 12
months.
CHCCCS040 (Support Independence and Wellbeing) requires 120 hours of work
placement in a residential care or in-house care facility with an approved NDIS
provider
English requirement:
a. An International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6 or equivalent
is required.
b. Test results must be no more than 2 years old.
c. Alternatively, English language competence can be demonstrated through
documented evidence of any of the following:
i. Education for a minimum of 5 years in an English-speaking country.
ii. Completion of at least 6 months of a Certificate IV level course at an
Australian Registered Training Organization (RTO).
iii. Successful completion of an English Placement Test.
d. Other English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL may be accepted, provided
the results are equivalent to IELTS 6 You are required to provide your test results
for verification.
Students must be a minimum age of 18 years or above at the time of course outset
Consistent with the packaging rules, the units listed below will be delivered for this training product. The unit code and title are provided, and units are grouped into Core and Elective units. Pre-requisites are listed where relevant.
