You will cover health and safety, children's emotional wellbeing, play-based learning, and how to create environments children actually engage with. The units are practical: nurturing babies and toddlers, developing positive and respectful relationships with children, supporting inclusion and diversity, using an approved learning framework to guide your practice, and helping children connect with the natural environment.
Flexible Online Learning, With Live Classes
Study happens online. Classes are live Zoom sessions on a timetable, with a trainer present, and course materials stay available to you around them.
That combination is deliberate. The timetabled sessions are where judgement gets developed, because so much of early childhood assessment is about how you would respond to a child in a particular moment, and that is a conversation. The materials being there whenever you need them is what makes the course survive shift work and school pick-ups.
You will need a computer and an internet connection that will hold a video class end to end.

Practical Placement
CHC30125 requires a minimum of 160 hours of hands-on work-based training in a regulated children’s education and care service. The hours are counted collectively across the units that carry a workplace requirement, so they run through the course rather than sitting at the end.
A current Working with Children Check is required before placement can start. Apply for it early. It is free to have ready and it is the single most common reason a student’s start date moves.
We arrange your placement and have partner sites across Victoria, so finding a service is not left to you. Placement assistance is included in the course fee.
Who This Course Is For
Domestic students interested in a career in childhood education and care. Graduates are able to support children’s wellbeing and development in the context of an approved learning framework.
It suits people looking to work in long day care centres, family day care, preschools, kindergartens, or outside school hours care settings. Those are five quite different working environments, and most people find out which one suits them during placement.
Entry Requirements
You must be 18 or over when the course commences, and hold Year 12 or an equivalent, or a 12 month qualification completed in English.
Every student completes a language, literacy and numeracy assessment before the course begins, through the LLN Robot platform. It shapes the support we put around you rather than deciding whether you get in.
What It Costs
The course is $2,500 for domestic students. Enrolment is a further $250, and placement assistance is included in both.
Instalments are monthly or quarterly, with no interest and no additional charges. The fee is simply divided into payments.
Victoria funds subsidised and fee free training places at approved providers for students who meet the eligibility rules. Check whether you qualify before enrolling anywhere, ourselves included. We are a fee paying provider, and the instalment plan is why the fee need not be the deciding factor.
