Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care Dandenong: CHC50125
Your Certificate III got you into the room. CHC50125 is what gets you leading it. The diploma of early childhood education and care Dandenong services look for when they appoint an educational leader is this one, and The Performance College delivers it online with live Zoom classes over 6 to 9 months for domestic students. The catch is 280 hours of placement and three clearances you will want to start early. Ring 03 9008 4043 and we will map out the order.
The Performance College, RTO 46069
We are a registered training organisation, RTO 46069, and a CRICOS registered provider, CRICOS 04180C. The diploma is nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework, so it holds with any employer and in any state.
Rekha Sehrawat founded the college in 2023, after years as a trainer and assessor watching capable students struggle for want of support rather than ability. We have 100+ domestic graduates so far.
The campus is Level 5, 398 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne CBD. The full credential list is on the Melbourne aged care course page.
From Educator to Room Leader
The certificate qualifies you to work with children. The diploma qualifies you to shape what happens in the room: designing play-based learning experiences, setting health and safety protocols, building partnerships with families, and carrying the ethical and legal responsibilities that go with running a program.
You will also cover child development across physical, cognitive, social and emotional dimensions, curriculum design against an approved learning framework, and the compliance side that services have to satisfy whether or not anyone enjoys it.
The roles it opens are early childhood educator, family day care educator, educational leader and outside school hours care educator.
The 280 Hours, and the Three Checks
CHC50125 requires 280 hours of supervised work-based training in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia. The hours are counted across every unit carrying a workplace requirement, so they run alongside your study rather than landing in one block.
Before any of them you need three things: a police clearance certificate no more than 12 months old, a valid Working with Children clearance, and immunisation checks where the placement provider requires them.
Start all three now. Individually they are quick. Together, left late, they are the reason a placement date moves.
We arrange the placement and have partner sites across Victoria, so the search is not yours.
Recognition of Prior Learning
You must hold a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care to enrol. If you have been working in a service for years without formalising everything, Recognition of Prior Learning is available and educators are often credited for units they can already demonstrate.
It is worth an actual conversation rather than an assumption. People talk themselves out of the diploma over this more often than they need to.
What Sits Inside the Qualification
The diploma is built from 15 units of competency. The count matters less than what the units are about, which is the shift from carrying out a program to designing one.
Curriculum design against an approved learning framework is the spine of it. Around that sit compliance, family partnerships, and leadership within a service. If the certificate taught you what to do with a child in front of you, the diploma is about what the whole room is doing this term and why.
Part of the course is chosen rather than fixed, which is where a service’s own emphasis usually shows up, so it is worth asking a prospective employer which areas they value.
Studying Online From Dandenong
Live Zoom classes are timetabled sessions with a trainer present. For diploma-level work that matters more than it does at certificate level, because a lot of what you are assessed on is judgement, and judgement is discussed rather than read.
Everything except placement happens from home. You will need a computer and a connection that holds a video class end to end.
International students study on campus in the Melbourne CBD, and their intakes run to set dates.
Where Diploma Holders Work in Dandenong
Mayfield runs a childcare centre and kindergarten in Dandenong, KingKids operates an early learning centre locally, and G8 Education has services in the area.
Services of that size need educational leaders, not only educators. That is the practical reason to hold the diploma while you are already working in the south east rather than after you leave.
Fees
The diploma is $3,500 for domestic students. Enrolment is a further $250, with placement assistance included in both.
Payment can be monthly or quarterly, with no interest and no additional charges.
Victoria funds subsidised and fee free places at approved providers for eligible students. Check where you stand before enrolling anywhere. We are a fee paying provider, and the instalment plan is how we make that workable.

The order that works is: sort the three clearances, confirm your Certificate III or start an RPL conversation, then enrol. Doing it the other way round is what causes the delays.
Ring 03 9008 4043 or email info@tpc.edu.au. Domestic study is online, and intakes open monthly. Only December goes without one. We reply within 24 hours, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.
