Aged Care Course Werribee: CHC33021 Certificate III Online

The job comes before the qualification, so start there. Aged care work means personal care, supporting somebody’s independence rather than quietly taking it over, and the communication that holds both of those together. CHC33021, the Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability), is the certificate that qualifies you for it, and The Performance College delivers this aged care course to Werribee students online with live Zoom classes. Domestic students take 6 to 9 months. Ring 03 9008 4043 if you want to talk it through before deciding.

Studying With The Performance College

We are a registered training organisation, RTO 46069, and a CRICOS registered provider, CRICOS 04180C. That registration is what allows a qualification to be nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework, so what you finish with is portable between employers and across state lines.

Rekha Sehrawat founded the college in 2023, after years as a trainer and assessor watching able students come undone for want of support rather than ability. We have 100+ domestic graduates so far.

The campus is at Level 5, 398 Lonsdale Street in the Melbourne CBD. The full credential list sits on the Melbourne aged care course page.

What the Work Involves Day to Day

Person centred care is the phrase the qualification uses, and it means the difference between doing things for someone and doing things with them. In practice that is most of the job.

Around it sit infection prevention and control, communicating with clients and with the families who worry about them, and the daily work of supporting independence and wellbeing. Dementia care and a palliative approach can be built into the course, and they come up constantly in residential settings.

It is work that suits people who are steady and observant more than people who are fast. Worth knowing before you pay for a course.

The Qualification Behind It

CHC33021 is the recognised entry certificate for the sector. It carries the ageing and disability specialisations together, so it does not ask you to choose a direction before you have worked in either.

To start you need to be 18 or over when the course begins, with Year 12 or an equivalent, or a 12 month qualification completed in English. Every student sits a short language, literacy and numeracy assessment first. It exists to work out what support you need, not to screen you out. International students also need IELTS 6.0 or an accepted equivalent.

How Classes Run

Live Zoom sessions are timetabled and a trainer is present. You can ask something and get an answer inside the class, which is the difference between attending and merely watching.

For a Werribee student it means the course fits into evenings and around shifts without the trip into town being part of the arithmetic.

You will need a computer and a connection that will carry a video class the whole way through.

International students study on campus in the Melbourne CBD, and their intakes fall on set dates.

The Workplace Component

CHC33021 requires 120 hours of supervised work-based training in a residential care or in-home care facility with an approved NDIS provider. The requirement comes from the qualification, through the unit CHCCCS040.

We arrange your placement and hold partner sites across Victoria, so the search is not left with you.

It is the piece that runs on someone else’s roster, so tell admissions what your availability looks like when you enquire rather than after enrolling.

Who Employs Care Workers Locally

Estia Health operates a residential aged care home in Werribee. Workplaces like it employ personal care assistants who hold a Certificate III, and the same qualification opens home care and community care roles where the work happens in people’s houses instead.

The western suburbs have grown quickly, and demand for care staff has followed. The certificate is the thing that lets you step into that rather than read about it.

Paying For It

The course is $2,500 for domestic students. Enrolment is a further $250, with placement assistance included in both.

You can pay monthly or quarterly. No interest and no additional charges; the fee is simply divided.

Victoria funds subsidised and fee free training places at approved providers for students who meet the eligibility rules. Check whether you qualify before enrolling anywhere. We are a fee paying provider, and the instalment plan is how we keep that workable.

Things People Ask Us

How fast can this realistically be done?

6 to 9 months for a domestic student. Anything advertising a few weeks is either a short skill set or a single unit, not the full certificate.

Do I need to come into Melbourne?

Not for teaching. Only the 120 placement hours happen in person.

Where would my placement be?

We help arrange it, and it depends on the provider that takes you. Say where you are based at the enquiry stage so it is planned for early.

Can I study while working?

Many of our students are working in the field while they study. Classes are timetabled and online; placement is what needs arranging around a roster.

What roles does it open?

Personal care assistant, aged care worker, home care worker and community care worker, in residential homes and in people's own homes.

Where This Starts

If the work described at the top of this page sounds like something you would be good at, the next question is just whether a funded place is open to you, and if not, whether the instalments make it manageable.

Ring 03 9008 4043 or email info@tpc.edu.au. Domestic study is online and intakes run monthly except December, so you can begin without much of a wait. We reply within 24 hours, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.
