Aged Care Course Dandenong: CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support

Six weeks is the number people usually have in mind when they ask about an aged care course in Dandenong. The honest answer for CHC33021, the Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability), is 6 to 9 months for domestic students, and the reason is the 120 hours of workplace training built into it. The Performance College teaches the rest online with live Zoom classes. The course fee is $2,500 for domestic students and can be paid in instalments. Ring 03 9008 4043 if you would rather have the placement side explained first.

The Performance College, RTO 46069

We are a registered training organisation, RTO 46069, and a CRICOS registered provider, CRICOS 04180C. Our qualifications are nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework, so the certificate travels with you between employers and between states.

Rekha Sehrawat started the college in 2023. She had worked for years as a trainer and assessor, and built it around the thing she kept seeing go wrong: capable students failing for want of support rather than ability. We have 100+ domestic graduates so far.

Our campus is Level 5, 398 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne CBD. The full credential list is on the Melbourne aged care course page.

What It Costs, and What Free Means Around Here

Fees for domestic students are straightforward. The course is $2,500. Enrolment is a further $250, and placement assistance is included in both.

Instalments are monthly or quarterly. No extra fees, no interest; the course fee is simply divided up.

Victoria does fund subsidised and fee free training places at approved providers for eligible students, and that is worth chasing down before you enrol anywhere. Eligibility turns on things like your residency, your age and what you have already studied. We are a fee paying provider, which is why we run an instalment plan rather than advertise a free place we cannot offer.

Study Online From Dandenong, With Live Classes

Domestic delivery is entirely online. Live Zoom classes are scheduled sessions with a trainer rather than recordings you chip away at alone, so you can ask a question when you have one instead of emailing it and waiting.

Practically, that means no commute. If you are already doing shift work, or you have people at home who need you at particular hours, that is usually the difference between enrolling and putting it off another year.

You will need a computer and a connection that can hold a video class without dropping.

International students study on campus in the Melbourne CBD, and those intakes run to set dates.

What you need before you start

You must be 18 or over at the time the course begins. You will need Year 12 or an equivalent qualification, or a 12 month qualification completed in English. Every student sits a short language, literacy and numeracy assessment before the course starts, which tells us what support to put around you rather than screening you out. International students also need IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, or one of the accepted alternatives.

The 120 Hour Placement Requirement

CHC33021 requires 120 hours of supervised work-based training in a residential care or in-home care facility with an approved NDIS provider. That comes from the qualification itself, through the unit CHCCCS040.

We arrange your placement and have partner sites across Victoria, so finding a facility is not left to you.

Because it is the one part that has to happen in person and at particular times, mention your current commitments when you enquire. Sorting the sequence before enrolment is far easier than rearranging it midway.

Aged Care Work in the Dandenong Area

Estia Health runs a residential aged care home in Dandenong, close to the hospital and on public transport. Homes of that kind are where personal care assistants with a Certificate III are employed, which is the straightforward reason to hold the qualification if you are already living in the south east.

The certificate covers disability support as well as ageing, so it opens both without asking you to choose upfront.

What Dandenong Callers Ask

Is there a six week aged care course?

Short courses exist, but they are not this qualification. CHC33021 is a full Certificate III, nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework, and the 120 placement hours alone make six weeks unrealistic. When you compare options, check whether what you are looking at is the accredited certificate or a shorter skill set.

Can I keep working while I study?

Many of our students are working in the field while they study. Classes are scheduled and online, and placement is the part that needs planning around a roster.

How much is it?

$2,500 for the course. Enrolment adds $250. Both can be paid monthly or quarterly with no interest on the plan.

Do I need to travel into the city?

Not for the teaching. Only the placement happens in person, in a workplace.

What jobs does it lead to?

Personal care assistant, aged care worker, home care worker and community care worker roles, in residential homes and in-home services.

Getting Started

The six week course does not exist in the form people picture it. What does exist is a full certificate you can finish in 6 to 9 months without giving up the job you already have, and that is the trade actually on the table.

Ring 03 9008 4043 or email info@tpc.edu.au. Domestic study is online, and intakes run monthly, so you can enrol now and begin at the next one. December is the only month without an intake. We reply within 24 hours, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.
