Childcare Course Frankston: CHC30125 Studied Online From Home

Getting into early childhood work starts with two pieces of paper: the certificate and a Working with Children Check. The certificate is CHC30125, and The Performance College runs this childcare course for Frankston students entirely online, with live Zoom classes rather than recordings. Domestic students take 6 to 9 months. The one part that happens in person is 160 hours of placement in a regulated service. Ring 03 9008 4043 and we will explain how both pieces fit together.

The Performance College and Its RTO Registration

We are a registered training organisation, RTO 46069, and a CRICOS registered provider, CRICOS 04180C. That registration is what lets us issue a nationally recognised qualification rather than a certificate that stops at our own door.

Rekha Sehrawat founded the college in 2023, after years as a trainer and assessor watching able students come unstuck for want of support rather than ability. We have 100+ domestic graduates so far.

Our campus is Level 5, 398 Lonsdale Street in the Melbourne CBD. The full credential list is on the Melbourne aged care course page.

Who Is Hiring in Frankston Early Learning

Early Learning Victoria operates a centre in Frankston called Ngawak, and Bright Steps Academy runs a childcare centre here as well.

Certificate III holders are employed across long day care, family day care, preschools, kindergartens and outside school hours care. Those are five quite different working environments, and people tend to discover which one suits them during placement rather than before it.

The Certificate That Gets You In

CHC30125 is the recognised entry qualification for early childhood education and care. It is nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework, so it is not tied to Victoria or to any one employer.

To start you need to be 18 or over when the course begins, and to hold Year 12 or an equivalent, or a 12 month qualification completed in English. Every student sits a short language, literacy and numeracy assessment first, which exists to work out what support you need rather than to keep you out. International students also need IELTS 6.0 or an accepted equivalent.

What You Will Actually Study

The units are practical rather than abstract, and reading their names tells you more about the work than any course description does. You will cover nurturing babies and toddlers, developing positive and respectful relationships with children, supporting inclusion and diversity, using an approved learning framework to guide your practice, supporting the holistic learning and development of children, and helping children connect with the natural environment.

That last one surprises people. It is also the part educators tend to enjoy most once they are in a service.

How the Study Runs

Live Zoom classes are timetabled sessions with a trainer present. You ask a question and get it answered in the session.

For a Frankston student the practical upshot is that the peninsula run into the city never happens. That trip is most of a day, and it is usually the reason someone puts this off for another year rather than any doubt about the work itself.

You will need a computer and a connection that holds a video class from start to finish.

International students study on campus in the Melbourne CBD, where intakes run to set dates.

160 Hours, and the Check You Need First

CHC30125 requires 160 hours of supervised work-based training in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia, counted across the units that carry a workplace requirement.

A current Working with Children Check is required before you can do any of it. Apply early. It costs nothing to have it ready and it is the most common thing that holds a student up.

We arrange your placement and have partner sites across Victoria, so finding a service is not left to you.

Fees

The course is $2,500 for domestic students. Enrolment is a further $250, with placement assistance included in both.

Payment can be monthly or quarterly, with no interest and no additional charges.

Victoria funds subsidised and fee free places at approved providers for students who meet the eligibility rules. Check whether you qualify before enrolling anywhere, here included. We are a fee paying provider, which is why the instalment plan exists.

Frankston Questions

Do I need the WWCC before I enrol?

No, but you need it before placement, and placement is scheduled early enough that leaving the application late causes problems.

Will I have to come into Melbourne?

Not for teaching. All classes for domestic students are online. Only your 160 placement hours are in person.

How long does it take?

6 to 9 months for domestic students. That is the complete nationally recognised certificate.

What kinds of centres could I work in?

Long day care, family day care, preschools, kindergartens and outside school hours care.

Is there a free option?

Victoria funds subsidised and fee free places for eligible students, so check your eligibility. Ours is fee paying with interest free instalments.

Where to Begin

Apply for the Working with Children Check today and check your funding eligibility this week. Both are free, both take time to come back, and neither requires you to have decided anything yet.

Ring 03 9008 4043 or email info@tpc.edu.au. Domestic study is online with an intake every month except December, so nothing holds you up once those are moving. We reply within 24 hours, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.
