Who Is This Course For?
This course is designed for international students who are interested in pursuing a career in cabinet making, furniture manufacturing, and timber trades. Graduates will be equipped to work across the residential, commercial, and construction sectors using industry-standard tools, machinery, and materials.
It is expected that learners will have no prior experience in cabinet making or timber technology. Where learners do have previous experience, they will be able to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning and will be granted credits in units where they are able to demonstrate competence across all aspects of those units.
Where This Qualification Takes You
Age Requirement
Students must be between 18 and 45 years of age at the time of course commencement.
Language Literacy and Numeracy
All students will be required to complete an LLN assessment prior to the onset of the course. The Performance College uses the LLN Robot platform for the assessment.
English Language Requirements
Minimum IELTS score of 6 or equivalent. OR a minimum of two (2) years of study at an AQF Level 4 or higher completed in Australia.
Hardware / Software Requirements
All learners are expected to have access to a laptop or computer with a Windows operating system and office applications such as Microsoft Word at their own cost.
Pre-Training Review
All learners will undertake an initial skills assessment to determine suitability for the course and student needs.
Assessment
Knowledge Questions, Simulation that may include assessment activities such as case study, practical assessment at live sites, role-play, presentation, report writing, creating templates, analysing, designing, performing, and presenting cabinet-making-related work for inspection to stakeholders.
Furthermore, depending on the unit, the student may be required to create flow charts, graph charts, analytical reports, a portfolio of evidence and/or diagrams, etc.
