Aged Care Course Frankston: CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support

Deciding to get qualified in aged care usually comes after you have already been doing some of the work, paid or unpaid, for somebody who needed it. The certificate that turns that into a job is CHC33021, the Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability). The Performance College runs it as an online course with live Zoom classes, so a Frankston student never travels for a lesson. Domestic students finish inside 6 to 9 months. Ring 03 9008 4043 and we will tell you what the placement involves before you commit to anything.

The Performance College and the CHC33021 Credential

We are a registered training organisation, RTO 46069, and a CRICOS registered provider, CRICOS 04180C. The qualification is nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework, which is why it holds up if you change employers or move interstate.

Rekha Sehrawat founded the college in 2023, after years spent as a trainer and assessor watching able students struggle for lack of support rather than lack of ability. We have 100+ domestic graduates so far.

The campus is Level 5, 398 Lonsdale Street in the Melbourne CBD. The full credential list sits on the Melbourne aged care course page.

Who This Qualification Is For

CHC33021 is the entry credential for the care sector. It is what an employer means by “a Cert III”, and it covers the two specialisations together: ageing, and disability support.

You do not need experience to start. What you do need is to be 18 or over when the course begins, and either Year 12 or an equivalent, or a 12 month qualification completed in English. Every student sits a short language, literacy and numeracy assessment beforehand. That is there to work out what support you need, not to filter you out. International students also need IELTS 6.0 or one of the accepted equivalents.

How the Study Actually Runs

Live Zoom classes are timetabled sessions with a trainer in the room with you. Ask your question when you have it. There is no queue of recordings waiting for you to catch up on.

Frankston to the CBD and back is a serious chunk of a day, and for anyone juggling shifts or school hours that trip is usually what kills the idea. Studying from home removes it as a factor entirely.

You will need a computer and an internet connection that holds a video call without dropping out.

International students study on campus in the Melbourne CBD, and their intakes run to set dates.

Placement: 120 Hours, and Where It Fits

CHC33021 requires 120 hours of supervised work-based training in a residential care or in-home care facility with an approved NDIS provider. That requirement belongs to the qualification, through the unit CHCCCS040.

We arrange your placement and have partner sites across Victoria, so tracking down a facility is not your job.

Because it is the one component that happens in person and on somebody else’s timetable, raise your availability at the enquiry stage. Sequencing it before you enrol is much simpler than reshuffling it later.

Aged Care Providers on the Frankston Side

Regis operates a residential aged care home in Frankston, and Baptcare runs its Peninsula View community nearby. Facilities of that size are where personal care assistants holding a Certificate III are employed, which is the plain reason to get qualified while you are living on this side of the bay.

The disability stream sits inside the same certificate, so you are not shutting a door by starting here.

Cost, and the Funded Alternative

The course is $2,500 for domestic students. Enrolment is a further $250, and placement assistance is included in both.

Payments can be monthly or quarterly. There is no interest and there are no additional charges; the fee is simply divided into instalments.

Victoria subsidises training places at approved providers for students who meet the eligibility rules, and some of those places are fee free. Work out whether you qualify before enrolling anywhere. We are a fee paying provider, and the instalment plan is how we make that manageable.

Frankston FAQs

Will I ever need to come into the city?

Not for teaching. Domestic delivery is fully online. The 120 placement hours are the only in-person component.

Can the placement be somewhere near Frankston?

We help arrange it, and the location depends on which provider accepts you. Say where you are based when you first enquire so it is part of the planning rather than an afterthought.

How quickly can I finish?

6 to 9 months for domestic students. That is the complete nationally recognised certificate.

Are there free aged care courses in c?

There are subsidised and fee free places in Victoria for students who meet the criteria, so check your eligibility first. Ours is a fee paying course with an interest free instalment plan.

What roles does it qualify me for?

Personal care assistant, aged care worker, home care worker and community care worker positions, in residential homes and in-home services.

Talk It Through First

The two questions worth answering before you pay anything are whether a funded place is available to you, and how 120 hours of placement will sit alongside the rest of your week.

Ring 03 9008 4043 or email info@tpc.edu.au. The study is online and intakes run monthly, every month except December, so once those are settled the next start is close. We reply within 24 hours, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.
