Face to Face Learning

Learn directly from experienced trainers in our Melbourne campus with interactive classroom sessions and guided practical activities.

Dual Specialisation

Covers both Ageing and Disability streams with 9 core units and 6 electives, giving you a versatile skill set across the entire care industry.

Work-Based Placement

Minimum 120 hours of hands-on work-based training in a residential care or in-house care facility with an approved NDIS provider.

Who Is This Course For?

Domestic students who are interested in pursuing a career in individual support, aged care, or disability services. This qualification is suited for those seeking to enter a new industry sector, those looking for a pathway to higher-level qualifications, and those wanting to develop hands-on skills in person-centred care.

Students will usually be new entrants. However, credit and/or RPL can be provided for those with existing skills and knowledge, allowing such students to complete the course in a shorter timeframe.

Students entering the Certificate III in Individual Support at The Performance College must meet the following entry requirements:

Academic Requirement

Year 12 equivalent, OR completion of a 12+ month English-medium qualification.

English Language Requirements

IELTS 6.0 or equivalent (no more than 2 years old). Alternative evidence includes 5+ years of education in an English-speaking country, 6+ months at an Australian RTO at Certificate IV level, or successful completion of an English Placement Test.

Work-Based Training

You must complete at least 120 hours of work-based training in a residential care or in-house care facility with an approved NDIS provider, as required for CHCCCS040 and other assessment requirements.

Pre-Training Review

All learners will undertake an initial skills assessment to determine suitability for the course and student needs. Determination of course suitability and additional support will be made by a qualified assessor.

Language Literacy and Numeracy

All students will be required to complete an LLN assessment prior to the onset of the course. The Performance College uses the LLN Robot platform for the assessment.

Hardware / Software Requirements

Access to a laptop or computer with Windows operating system and Microsoft Word at the learner’s own cost. Where needed, The Performance College will provide access to computers through an MoU with an external IT company.

Age Requirement

Students must be a minimum age of 18 years or above at the time of course commencement.
