Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care Pakenham: CHC50125

If you are already an educator in Pakenham and the next job you want is educational leader, CHC50125 is the qualification that opens it. The diploma of early childhood education and care Pakenham services appoint from assumes you hold a Certificate III already, and The Performance College delivers it online with live Zoom classes over 6 to 9 months for domestic students. Ring 03 9008 4043 and we will work out what you still need.

The Performance College and Its Registration

We are a registered training organisation, RTO 46069, and a CRICOS registered provider, CRICOS 04180C. Registration is what makes the diploma nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework instead of an in-house certificate.

Rekha Sehrawat founded the college in 2023, after years as a trainer and assessor watching capable students struggle for want of support rather than ability. We have 100+ domestic graduates so far.

The campus is Level 5, 398 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne CBD. The full credential list is on the Melbourne aged care course page.

The Educational Leader Role

Every approved service has to have one, which is why the qualification has a straightforward market behind it rather than a speculative one.

The work is deciding what a room is trying to achieve, checking whether the program is actually reaching each child, and being able to explain both to a family and to a regulator. The diploma teaches exactly that: curriculum design against an approved learning framework, service compliance, family partnerships, and the ethical and legal responsibilities of running a program.

Alongside it you will cover child development across physical, cognitive, social and emotional dimensions, designing play-based learning experiences, and establishing health and safety protocols.

What You Need to Get In

A Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care is the entry requirement.

If you have been working in services without formalising every unit, Recognition of Prior Learning is available and experienced educators are frequently credited. That conversation is worth having before you conclude you would be starting from scratch.

You will also need to be 18 or over when the course begins, and to hold Year 12 or an equivalent, or a 12 month qualification completed in English. Everyone sits a short language, literacy and numeracy assessment first, which determines the support we put around you rather than whether you are admitted.

Placement and Clearances

CHC50125 requires 280 hours of supervised work-based training in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia, counted across all the units that carry a workplace requirement.

Before you can start you will need a police clearance certificate no more than 12 months old, a valid Working with Children clearance, and immunisation checks where the placement provider asks for them. Apply for all three at once; the slowest determines when you begin.

We arrange the placement and have partner sites across Victoria, so finding a service is not left to you.

Services Around Pakenham

Great Beginnings, Community Kids, Eden Academy, Inspire Early Learning, Aspire Early Education and Goodstart all operate services in or around Pakenham.

Every one of them needs an educational leader. In a growth corridor with this many services, a diploma is less a bet on the future than a response to what is already advertised.

Studying Without the Drive

Live Zoom classes are timetabled sessions with a trainer present. At diploma level that matters, because most of what you are assessed on is judgement, and judgement is developed in discussion rather than in reading.

Everything except placement happens from home, which keeps the course compatible with the job you are presumably still doing.

You will need a computer and a connection that holds a video class end to end. International students study on campus in the Melbourne CBD, and their intakes run to set dates.

What It Costs

The diploma is $3,500 for domestic students. Enrolment is a further $250, with placement assistance included in both.

Instalments are monthly or quarterly, with no interest and no extra charges.

Victoria funds subsidised and fee free places at approved providers for eligible students. Check your own position before enrolling anywhere, ourselves included.

Pakenham Questions

Do I need to be working already?

Not formally, but the diploma assumes floor experience and most people who do well have it. If you are new, do the Certificate III first.

Can I choose where placement happens?

Tell admissions your preference and where you are based. The final say rests with the service that accepts you, but it is taken into account.

How long does it take?

6 to 9 months for domestic students.

Is any of it free?

Victoria funds subsidised and fee free places for students who meet the criteria. Check your eligibility first; ours is fee paying with interest free instalments.

First Step

Every approved service in the corridor needs an educational leader, and the qualification is the only thing separating most experienced educators from that role. If that describes you, the clearances are the thing to start today.

Ring 03 9008 4043 or email info@tpc.edu.au. Domestic study is online, and intakes run monthly with December the one month off. We reply within 24 hours, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.
