Aged Care Course Hoppers Crossing: CHC33021 Online With Placement
Cost and length are the two questions that decide whether anyone actually enrols in an aged care course, so both go first. CHC33021, the Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability), is $2,500 for domestic students at The Performance College and takes 6 to 9 months. Study is online with live Zoom classes, so nobody in Hoppers Crossing travels for a lesson. The one part that happens in person is 120 hours of work placement, and we help you arrange it. Ring 03 9008 4043 for the detail.
Who The Performance College Is
We are a registered training organisation, RTO 46069, and a CRICOS registered provider, CRICOS 04180C. Everything we issue is nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework, so the certificate is portable between employers and states.
Rekha Sehrawat founded the college in 2023, having spent years as a trainer and assessor watching capable students come unstuck for want of support rather than ability. We have 100+ domestic graduates so far.
Our campus is at Level 5, 398 Lonsdale Street in the Melbourne CBD. The full credential list is on the Melbourne aged care course page.
What It Costs, and How Long It Takes
The course is $2,500 for a domestic student. Enrolment is a further $250. Placement assistance is included in both figures, and neither number changes depending on where you live.
Payment is monthly or quarterly if you want it that way. No interest, no additional charges; the fee is divided into instalments.
Six to nine months is the realistic window for a domestic student. Some of that is class time and assessment, and 120 hours of it is workplace training that has to be scheduled with a provider.
Whether Any of It Is Free
Not universally, and it is worth being precise about this because the word “free” gets attached to a lot of different things.
Victoria funds subsidised and fee free training places at approved providers for students who meet the eligibility rules. Eligibility depends on things like residency, age and what you have already completed. If you qualify for one of those places, take it.
Our course is fee paying. The instalment plan is there so the cost is spread rather than removed.
Which Certificate Is Actually Worth Holding
For getting into the sector, CHC33021 is the one. It is the recognised entry qualification, and it carries both the ageing and the disability specialisations rather than making you pick.
Certificate IV and diploma level study exists above it, but it makes more sense once you have worked in a care setting and know which direction interests you. Starting at Certificate IV without floor experience is the more common mistake.
Short skill sets and single units are a different thing again. When you compare options, check whether what you are looking at is a full accredited certificate or a component of one.
Your 120 Hours of Placement
CHC33021 requires 120 hours of supervised work-based training in a residential care or in-home care facility with an approved NDIS provider. It is an assessment requirement of the qualification, set through the unit CHCCCS040.
We arrange the placement and hold partner sites across Victoria, so you are not making cold calls to facilities.
Tell admissions about your work and family commitments when you enquire. Placement is the component that has to fit around a real timetable, and it is easier to plan before enrolment than to move afterwards.
Aged Care Around Hoppers Crossing
mecwacare operates the John Atchison Centre in Hoppers Crossing, providing residential aged care locally. Homes of that kind are where personal care assistants with a Certificate III are employed, which is the practical case for getting qualified without leaving the area.
The western suburbs have grown quickly and the care sector has grown with them. Holding the certificate is what lets you move into that work rather than watch it advertised.
Studying From Home in the West
Live Zoom classes are timetabled sessions with a trainer, not a library of recordings. You can interrupt, ask, and get an answer in the session.
You will need a computer and a connection stable enough for a full video class.
You must be 18 or over when the course begins, and you will need Year 12 or an equivalent, or a 12 month qualification completed in English. Everyone sits a short language, literacy and numeracy assessment first so we know what support to arrange. International students additionally need IELTS 6.0 or an accepted equivalent, and they study on campus in the Melbourne CBD, where intakes run to set dates.

Where to Start
Check your eligibility for a subsidised place first, because if one is open to you it is the better deal. If it is not, this is a straightforward alternative with the fee spread over instalments.
Ring 03 9008 4043 or email info@tpc.edu.au. Domestic study is online and intakes begin monthly, every month except December, so you can start soon after you decide. We reply within 24 hours, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.
